Europe and the elections - European values

The European Union is a community of values. This is often one of the first sentences that representatives of the EU use to describe their organization. They want to emphasize in particular that the EU is more than an economic union. Outside the EU it is also often perceived that way. After all, the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the EU the Nobel Peace Prize in 2012. But what really are the values of the European Union? And have they something to do with Christianity and the Christian faith?
